Voile Drapes

                                Voile Drapes

Voile drapes are an excellent choice if you want sheer draperies.

Voile drapes are made of voile, a kind of sheer near-translucent woven fabric that is either more entirely of cotton or is a cotton blend that may include linen or polyester.  Voile is either entirely cotton-based, cotton derivative.  They give a very elegant and sophisticated appearance to your window and to your home.

Voile drapes permit soft, diffused light to enter your room while blunting the glare and heat of the sun.  Moreover, they give your room privacy.  To the extent that you also want the option to further screen light more light from entering the room, you should combine voile drapes with a second layer of heavier drape material.  This way you can pull the second layer to block out all light.

Voile drapes come in a wide range of colors and patterns.  Voile embroidered drapes are especially popular.

Voile drapes can also enhance the energy efficiency of your home, at least over that of bare windows.  They can reduce your cooling bills somewhat.  Be aware, however, that the thermal qualities of voile drapes are not as strong as that of heavier drapes.  If energy efficiency is your highest priority, you need to choose another fabric or to pair your voile drapes with a layer of more energy efficient material.  One final benefit of Voile drapes is that they add an element of sound insulation.
