Nothing will add ambience and romance to your room than lace drapes.
Lace drapes allow an abundance of diffused natural light into your home while still giving you privacy. Lace drapes will increase the appearance of space and roominess. They will also reduce unwanted heat and glare.
Although lace drapes are most commonly used on windows, these drapes are extremely functional and can be used in other contexts. Consider using them to provide a lacy and romantic enclosure for your four poster bed. Or, use them as a soft and transparent divider for a room or hallway door.
White, or off-white, lace drapes are most common because shades of white enhance the light-filtering qualities of lace drapes. People do, however, experiment with other colors of lace drapes to create a certain mood. For instance, romantic red lace drapes may be suitable for a bedroom, either on the window or to enclose the bed.
Lace drapes may be used alone, which is certainly a nice look, or they may be layered under drapes made of other fabrics. Lace drapes will make your home more energy efficient on their own, at least opposed to a naked window, but they are not as effective in this respect as other drapes made of heavier and more opaque fabric. By layering lace drapes with other heavier drapes, one can gather the energy efficiency of heavier fabrics with the appearance and sophistication of lace. It also permits greater flexibility to block out all light with the heavier fabrics when desired, or to pull them back to enjoy all the light filtering benefits of lace drapes.
Care for lace drapes is relatively easy and can be done without the assistance of a dry-cleaner if you are so inclined. They are generally machine-washable and can be machine-dried.
